Ford Focus Door Shut in LE1. This was an unusual repair as most of the damage was inside the shut line of the drivers door. Caused by extended loading of goods into the back through the drivers door this car was about to be passed to another driver.

Peter was called in to paint the area, the expectation being that a coat of paint would improve the look and prevent the onset of rust where bare metal was showing through. Peter started by filling the dents and deep scratches, followed by primer. This provided a good base for the colour coat and the lacquer. The end result met Peters high standards and exceeded those of the Customer.

LE2 ChipsAway repair to AstraVan.

Most of the repairs Peter is asked to carry out are on cars, but this repair was to the rear door of a Vauxhall AstraVan. The door had suffered a stone chip early in it’s life and some time later a small ‘blob’ of touch up paint had been added. This is usually a good thing,but it needs to be done early or, as in this case, rust will set in and continue under the paint.

In this case the rust covered an area about the size of a 2p piece. After cleaning the panel and removing  part of a web address the rust was removed mechanically with a small grinder. A ‘rust eater’ was then applied to help prevent the return of the rust followed by a primer. A filler was used to bring the levels back up and the wider area primed again prior to painting followed by the clear lacquer.

A good polish later and the panel looked as good as new. On the way out the MD checked out the repair and as a result Peter is carrying out a repair on his Jaguar XK-R.

BMW Coupe repaired by ChipsAway in Leicester. When a local businessman returned to his BMW 3 coupe to find a vandal scratch to the off side rear quarter panel his first call was to Peter at ChipsAway in Leicester. Porsche 997 road warrior repaired by ChipsAway Leicester. On a local trunk road the driver of this Porsche 911 saw a big piece of road debris flying towards his car. The debris hit the front wing, between the headlight and bonnet. ChipsAway Vs Main Dealer.

When you buy a new car, part of the joy is knowing you have the support of a main dealer behind you. So the first stop for Mr H. when two large chips appeared on the front of his Alfa Mito, the result of a thoughtless neighbour, was to call on the supplying dealer. Their solution was to drop a couple of blobs of a silver paint onto the damage and say “job done.”

Bentley paintwork repair in Leicestershire. Last year Peter repaired some damaged paintwork on a Bentley Continental Flying Spur for a Customer. It’s nice to know that in the event that a vehicle is damaged again they will call Peter to come and sort it out. This was the case with the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. With a vehicle like this, that gets used for weddings as well as a daily driver it is very important it always looks the best, so when the radiator surround started to suffer from stone chip damage Peter was called in again to do his stuff.

A nice Aston Martin Vantage which needed a small amount of work before fitting Armourfend. This 5000 mile Vantage had a few stone chips that needed attention and it is such a nice car Peter felt the need to let you see some pictures.

M3 soft top LE4 needs bumper repair. Peter at Chips Away was called in after builder damaged the near side of an M3 Cab. Minor damage on the door, door handle and rear bumper caused when a large mixing board took to the air. Though the paint showed little damage, the rear bumper had been distorted and required filling and re-painting to bring back to as new condition.

Mini One paint repairs. If you are prepared to get the work done yourself there are savings to be made. Having bought a silver Mini One at a knock down price because the trader could not be bothered to get various dents and scuffs repaired before the sale. After a scary quote from the dealer to replace bonnet, roof and wheels, Peter was called in to deal with the wheels and paint and Dent-technique ( http://www.dent-technique.co.uk/ ) to sort out the dents. The dents were sorted first and Peter spent a day working on the paintwork and wheels. From the Customers point of view some scratches on the bonnet were the most important and Peter was able to apply some techniques to reduce them to such an extent that they were almost impossible to find. After the other areas were dealt with and 3 alloy wheels repaired. For the cost of a new bonnet the whole of the outside of the car was up to standard of a well cared for car and its value was well above the price paid. Chips on Golf. A newly aquired 2 year old Golf looked really good except for a number of chips to the front end, some of which had started to rust and would certainly have got worse as the winter came. Usually stone chips are very difficult to record so I made use of an SLR camera to record the repair.

Though some colours result in a better repair than others this is the sort of result you can expect with a good colour. Please be aware that if rust has to be removed the usual 2 year warranty does not apply. This is because, although I will always try and get rid of the rust with my engraving tool I can not guarantee to remove it all, so it may come back.
