Audi A6 paintwork repair in LE4

Audi A6 paintwork repair in LE4. While working on a car for a local business recently I was asked to look at another of their cars. This Northern Blue A6 had suffered an impact on the off side rear bumper which had “crazed” the paint in a number of areas. The repair was booked in and when Peter arrived the first job was to discover the extent of the paint damage. With a craft knife the paint was “pealed” away where it had de-laminated from the plastic moulded bumper (they are all plastic these days, from bangers to Bentleys). You can see from the first photos above the extent of paint removal. It would have been easier to slap a bit of filler over the area and “hope for the best” but Peter does not work like that so he applied a special ChipsAway primer over the damage to seal the repair area before building up the levels. Once that was baked and flatted the repair was carriedout in the usual way to produce a mirror shine on the final repair that will last as long as the rest of the paint.

Audi A4 key repair | DIY do it again

Audi A4 key repair – DIY do it again. After having his bonnet keyed Peter was called in to repair the damage, but was not the first choice. The first choice was the DIY solution. On the basis that the manufacturer must have the right colour the paint repair kit was obtained and the instructions followed. Now before the ChipsAway training Peter may well have got the same results, but a 1cm wide stripe over the damage was not what the owner was looking for. Four + years after training Peter’s first job was to spend about an hour removing the ‘repair’ before he could start his repair. Hope you can see that all that training and experience was worth it and that Peter’s repair is the better one.

Honda Jazz bumper scuff repair in Leicester LE2

Honda Jazz bumper scuff repair in Leicester LE2. Unusually this job got put back a week due to the weather. Last thursday the rain was coming down at such an angle that even Peters marquee could not help. Today dawned bright, if cold and after attending the very worthwhile  Working Breakfast networking group (www.workingbreakfast.com) Peter arrived in good time to start the job, a Storm Silver Honda Jazz. The offside front corner had been involved in two incidents, one involving a brick wall by the brick dust burried in the scuff. After removing the high spots the scuffs were filled with a colour coded filler followed by primer. The paint coats went on well giving a very good colour match followed by a couple of coats of lacquer to create a wonderful deep shine.

Skoda Roomster door repair

Skoda Roomster door repair. After a battle with a wall this Black Magic Roomster came off worse on the near side rear door and wheel arch. Peter was called in to effect a repair. The door panel required a little filler, but the wheel arch required rather more attention to get the shape back. A couple of coats of primer were applied to ensure a nice flat finish. After mixing the correct colour the panels were sprayed in the damaged area followed by a couple of coats of ChipsAway lacquer to leave a nice gloss finish. A quick polish and the job was done, and it only took 5 hours and cost about a 1/3rd of the price quoted by a body shop.

The good people of Leicester

The good people of Leicester. Imagine the situation, you are parked in a big car park and as you get out of your parking place the awful happens and you feel the contact between your and another car. Sad to say, many people will have a quick look around for witnesses and CCTV and if they feel lucky will drive off and give a big sigh and perhaps lose a few hours sleep. Well Andrew did the right thing and left his number and later that day had a call from a very thankful Andrew (yes really) and Peter of ChipsAway (PDS) Ltd was contacted. The work on the Fiesta Silver, a limited edition, was carried out at a convienient time for Andrew and everyone was happy.

Alloy Wheel repair for Range Rover Sport

Alloy Wheel repair for Range Rover Sport. The 20 inch alloys fitted to many Range Rover Sports look great when new and clean, but are very expensive to replace in the event of damage. With both front wheels damaged and a couple of small marks on a rear this could have been very expensive. Peter was called in as a friend of a friend. After repairing and polishing the wheels a bill for about £150 was less than trying to pick up second hand wheels off an auction site let alone new genuine units from a dealer.
