Red Alfa Spider needs paint repair, ChipsAway to the rescue

Red Alfa Spider needs paint repair, ChipsAway to the rescue. When you get to use a nice new Alfa Spider and the door gets opened onto a low wall, what do you do. It’s no good calling Ghostbusters, but a call to Peter at ChipsAway Leicester gets you out of the mire and in double quick time. By talking to other Customers Peter was able to juggle his diary and carry out the repair before the car had to go back. After filling the dent the area was primed and painted. With 4 versions of the colour to choose from it is important the righ one is mixed to prevent variations on the panel. ChipsAway lacquer ensures the final finish matches the rest of the door and a £250 excess is saved.

St Georges Day

Decided to celebrate St Georges day with a flag on the van. All went well until I opened the window to cool down and it flew away.

Boxter SMART paint repair

Boxter SMART paint repair by Peter at ChipsAway, Leicester. After a sucessful repair to a silver Audi TT last year there was no hesitation in calling Peter back to repair a bumper scuff on their Porsche Boxter and as before they were very happy with the result. Boxters have very large rear bumpers and this is not the first one Peter has repaired. Even with parking sensors the sides of the rear bumper seem to be prone to damage, but repairs are a very cost effective solution. Once repaired, have a look at the drivers tips section on the right to see how to keep your car looking its best.

A nice Aston Martin Vantage

A nice Aston Martin Vantage which needed a small amount of work before fitting Armourfend. This 5000 mile Vantage had a few stone chips that needed attention and it is such a nice car Peter felt the need to let you see some pictures.

Modern Paintwork

Modern paintwork is much thinner than that of only 10 years ago. This is not normally an issue as the quality is usually very good. As there is less paint some of the abrasive products developed for the last generation of thicker paint finishes, can do extensive damage to a simple scratch. Take extreme care when using such products. If the damage still shows when the panel is wet then it WILL NOT polish out.

I’ve damaged my door mirror, do I have to buy a new one?

I’ve damaged my door mirror, do I have to buy a new one? Quite often the answer is no. With a new mirror case costing £125 + it is often possible to get Peter of ChipsAway Leicester to come and repair it, which is what this Customer did. The repair brought the mirror back to good as new and all for £80+VAT and no need to leave the vehicle anywhere. The repair was carried out on the drive and done in a couple of hours.

So, yes, there is another way.

I’ve damaged the car removing bird lime, what do I do now?

I’ve damaged the car removing bird lime, what do I do now? We have all been there, the birds roost in a tree above your car and all is too busy in the morning to do anything about it, so it gets left until the weekend. By which time it has set like concrete. If you look in the Hints and Tips section you will see that the best solution now is to soak the offending deposits with water until soft, then to use a gentle water jet to remove. The reason? Depending on the bird, the time of year and what they have eaten, the deposit is often abbrasive and if you just try and rub it off, or worse still use a pan scourer, you WILL damage the paintwork. In this case a couple of hours of so of Peters magic fingers and a selection of ChipsAway products the paintwork was back to ‘as new.’

If it happens to you, check out the Hints and Tips section and save yourself some money. But if you do damage your cars paintwork, give Peter a call on 07830 36 46 86 and see if he can sort you out.
