Should Peter leave a card?

Should Peter leave a card? Car parks, both public and private are places Peter spends a lot of time in. And we all know when we visit a car park, we will see many examples of damage to paintwork that Peter could repair. Should Peter put a business card under a wiper blade?

If you have found this site you probably already know how to get such damage fixed at reasonable cost but, despite ChipsAway being active in the UK for 15 years, there are lots of people out there who still think the only solution is a few days in a body shop, a big bill and no guarantee of a good colour match.

If you visited a car park in Leicester City, how would you react to one of Peter’s cards being tucked under your wiper blade, why not let him know.

Does Size Matter?

Does Size Matter? Peter sees cars that have been damaged in most of the Supermarket car parks in and around the City with the one exception, the new John Lewis car park.

Is this because the spaces are getting smaller, cars are getting bigger or drivers take less care?

Asda Thurmaston car park bay

Asda Thurmaston car park bay. Second use of the tape.

230cm wide x 490 long.

I was parked at the end of a row and the last bay was actually 6cm wider, a help with the van or if you need access to both sides of the car.

Junction Road Car Park Wigston

Junction Road Car Park Wigston. The one behind the shops and near the library. Called here to go to the bank to find it was closed. Bought a tape and measured my first parking space.

225cm wide x 490cm long inside the white lines. Here they are very worn, but next one was 10cm wide so you could argue the space is actually 235cm wide if you include half a width at each side.

Parking Bay Sizes

Parking Bay Sizes – my way.

There may be a British Standard out there. but I am going to measure INSIDE the white lines and add a note if, like at John Lewis, there is more space round the bay than the usual white line.

Where is the best place to park for your weekly shop?

Where is the best place to park for your weekly shop in Leicester? Over recent weeks a number of Customers have passed the comment that supermarket parking spaces are getting smaller. Well I will be honest and say, as one who has built a business on fixing the results, that I have never given it too much thought. When out in the van I expect spaces to feel small. When out in the MX-5 I expect the same space to feel fine.

I do know that the new John Lewis car park ‘seems’ to be more driver friendly (I even thought of complaining – well I have to make a living :-) don’t I).

Well I have decided to carry a tape measure with me in the van and take some measurments and let you know. Has anyone else done this? Or have any records?
