Key scratch repairs around Leicester

Key scratch repairs around Leicester.

There is a general opinion among those who have suffered from this urban blight that cars are usually keyed by older school kids with nothing better to do. Peter certainly sees more examples during and just after school breaks but there are also examples where it is clear the damage is carried out by someone known to the driver, often an ex partner.

Peter is always happy to try and help with this sort of damage, so if that is the case with you, why not call Peter on 07830 36 46 86

Chilli Red Mini key scratch repair

Chilli Red Mini key scratch repair by Peter. When asked to quote for a key scratch repair in the city centre Peter was happy to try and help with at least a free quote. The quote being acceptable the job was booked for 20/10/2010 at the out of town address, which started with quite a frost. After warming and preping the panel the scratch was filled and primed while the Chilli Red paint was mixed. As a ‘low hide’ colour a couple of extra coats were applied and followed by 2 coats of ChipsAway lacquer.

After a good polish the repair was invisible and the car was the drivers pride and joy again. If this has happened to you why not call Peter on 07830 36 46 86 and see if he can help you.

Lease end Audi Q7 needs Peters attention

Lease end Audi Q7 needs Peters attention. When his company car was due for return, Paul asked around friends as how best to avoid the high cost the lease company were going to charge for the damage. As well as a couple of bumper scuffs, there was also a ‘key’ scratch to the nearside front wing. The company advised this would cost in excess of £1000 if left to the lease company, but a friend had used Peter of ChipsAway (PDS) in Leicester before so he was called in to quote. At well under half the cost, and less inconvenience, Peter was booked.

The end result was as good as the Audi paintwork and invisible to the naked eye. Completed in less than a day the vehicle was fit to use straight away.

If Peter could help you, call him on 07830 36 46 86 and safe yourself both time and money.

My car has been ‘keyed’ – what do I do next?

My car has been ‘keyed’ – what do I do next? Is it a sign that education is getting better when the the vandals who ‘key’ your car are bright enough to write a 4 letter word on the side of your car.

This was the second such repair Peter was asked to carry out in recent weeks.

After filling the scratch itself Peter applied a coat of ChipsAway primer to ensure the scratches would not show through the finished repair (a fault often seen with ‘lesser’ repairs). Several coats of the correct mix of Radiant Red (there are 4, all easy to tell apart, especially in the middle of a panel) were applied followed by a couple of coats of the Aquaclear lacquer. The panel could then be polished to match the rest of the vehicle.

If this has happened to you, why not give Peter a call on 07830 36 46 86 and have a chat about what can be done or for a free quote.

My car has been keyed, what do I do?

My car has been keyed, what do I do? This is what Peter at ChipsAway in Leicester, Leicestershire would do. The Customer had bought a coupe for the summer. The price was very low because both sides had been visited by an idiot with a key. For £300 + VAT Peter was able to repair the damage while the Customer was at work, so he drove too and from work as usual. In this case the panels had suffered minimum distortion during the ‘keying’ so after cleaning down the panels very little filler was needed to bring the levels up. I good quality primer applied after the filler has been flatted with 1500 grade wet and dry paper. Flat the baked primer to remove any edges. Peter mixed the correct version of the pale yellow paint and applied a few coats. Yellow is often a ‘low hide’ colour and needs a few extra coats. ChipsAway aquaclear lacquer is then applied and baked to a high shine.

Car Keyed in Leicester

Car Keyed in Leicester. An unwanted Boxing Day gift for Steve was to wake up to find his Mini Cooper S had been ‘keyed’ by some mindless reveller. Both the drivers door and rear quarter panel had been damaged and rather than go to a body shop who wanted ‘a lot’ to re-spray the whole side. Peter was able to ‘improve’ the damage to such an extent that at normal viewing distance the repair was invisible. See for yourself in the pictures above.

Audi A4 key repair | DIY do it again

Audi A4 key repair – DIY do it again. After having his bonnet keyed Peter was called in to repair the damage, but was not the first choice. The first choice was the DIY solution. On the basis that the manufacturer must have the right colour the paint repair kit was obtained and the instructions followed. Now before the ChipsAway training Peter may well have got the same results, but a 1cm wide stripe over the damage was not what the owner was looking for. Four + years after training Peter’s first job was to spend about an hour removing the ‘repair’ before he could start his repair. Hope you can see that all that training and experience was worth it and that Peter’s repair is the better one.

Tangerine 206 GTi key scratch repair

Tangerine 206 GTi key scratch repair by Peter of ChipsAway (PDS) in City centre. I hope it is not a half term thing, but a hospital worker had her car ‘keyed’ in the city centre recently. The Peugeot 206 is a nice shade of metallic orange called Tangerine and is not a colour to be played about with, but the wonderful ChipsAway Aquaclear paint system allows opperators to match almost all colours today, even the ones that up until recently would have called for a full respray of the damaged side, just to hide the join. Measuring the tints to one hundredth of a gram (one drop of water weighs about 7 hundredths of a gram!) alows Peter to match parts of a panel to such a degree that the painted area does not show against the origional colour, and the ChipsAway lacquer allows the high shine of modern finished to be reproduced.

R32 in need of Paint Repair

R32 in need of Paint Repair. When you have a nice car it is good to keep it looking it’s best. Peter, at ChipsAway (PDS) in Leicester was called in to repair paintwork on a wheelarch. After getting the paint code from the boot (all VAG models, right up to the new Bentleys have it there) Peter was able to mix a batch of paint to exactly match the OEM colour. After cleaning ther panel a little filler was used to bring the scratch up to surface level prior tp primer application. Once the ChipsAway water based paint has been applied and dried the repair was ready for the lacquer. As usual, minimum finishing was requiered prior to a good polish and tidy up. After re-loading the mobile workshop (the Van) Peter was off to the next Customer.
