Deja vu Qashqai

Deja vu Qashqai. Back in November 2010 Peter carried out a repair on a red Qashqai rear quarter. Well this is the same vehicle, the same panels and the same damage. The first picture even shows some of the filler and primer used for that November repair.

With the exception of the new damage the repair was impossible to see, so the system works. As you can see even the repair of the repair works.

Peter wouldn’t wish this on any one, but if your car paintwork is damaged give him a callon 07830 36 46 86

Testing skills on a Vito

Peter tests his skills on a Vito damaged by a container truck. Peter recently carried out a repair on a Mini and the repair so impressed this Vito owner that Peter was asked to look at some damage on the nearside rear quarter panel. Not your regular bumper scuff, the container had re-modeled the swage line and distorted the panel itself. The owner had used a touch-up kit to protect the damaged area, though quite a lot of surface rust had set in already. This was removed as much as possible with a trusty Dremel prior to priming and filling. The filling took several hours to build up and flat down, but the end result was as good as Peter expected and better than the customer believed possible.

Carried out on the understanding that Peter would get the best repair possible, it was a good 8 hour job with regular cups of tea supplied.

If you would like to talk to Peter about any damage to your vehicle, give him a call on 07830 36 46 86

You want what painted?

You want what painted?

No pictures here to protect the innocent. Earlier this week Peter was repairing a very fetching, pink car for a young lady who was the designated driver for an upcoming Hen Party. While the repair was being started, Peter overheard a conversation between the driver and a co-hen regarding the lack of a matching nail polish for the big weekend.

Knowing the paint being prepared for the repair was very benign and having had paint on skin and nails in the past it was suggested that a coat of the water based paint applied with a small brush and dried with a hair drier could be covered with a clear nail polish and would have the desired effect.

Peter advised that there would be no guarantee and that the paint should be tested first on one nail and used for the shortest period before the big night, but has since heard that the effect was just what the driver wanted.

As well as cars, Peter has also painted a combine harvester, a truck, a dentist chair, a fridge door and a mobile phone. If you have a vehicle that needs a paintwork repair why not call him on 07830 36 46 86

The skip ALWAYS wins!!

No matter how careful you are while maneuveringyour car, there can always be an unexpected crunch in the dark. A protruding bracket on a skip hidden in the shadows came into contact with the front wing if this nice SLK. Too sharp a dent to be handled by “paintless dent removal” (PDR) specialists Peter at ChipsAway (PDS) Ltd was called in to help.

A little re-shaping was needed, to remove the high spots, followed by a light skim of filler to return the wing to the correct shape. This was followed with ChipsAway primer. While this was baking, Peter mixed the correct version of the colour. Three or four coats of AquaClear paint covered the primer and this was followed by the environmentally friendly ChipsAway lacquer. Once this was baked, a little flatting and polishing brought the repair up to the same high glass as the rest of the wing.

If you think Peter may be able to help you with damage to your car, then why not call him on 07830 36 46 86

Dream Garage

Anyone with even a hint of petrol in their viens will have spent a little time wondering what would be in their Dream Garage if they had the money. Well I have worked on most of them over the years, but this was a special one when I got to work on a bunch of them together.

This post is just to let you know, I love my job!

JDM Subaru Impreza STi paintwork repair

JDM Subaru Impreza STi paintwork repair:

This series of pictures shows a repair Peter carried out on an STi Impreza after one of the window deflectors came off. There was quite a lot of double sided tape to be removed after the brackets and N/S deflector was removed and after all the glue was removed it was possible to see the damage long term application does to the paintwork.

This was flatted down and prepared then both sides of the car were masked off ready for painting. After painting a clear coat was applied and the car cleaned down.

If this sort of work needs doing to your car, why not call Peter on 07830 36 46 86 for a quote.

ChipsAway stonechip repair

ChipsAway stonechip repair. There are not many posts on stone chip repair on the site in part because Peter does not repair very many, but also because they are difficult to photograph. Here is one done recently on a one week old Zafira.

The first shot actually shows the stone chip with some primer in as the plain picture did not come out, but it shows the shape. The chip was about 5mm long and 1.5mm wide.

The second shot shows the repair close up. The finger is pointing at the repair which is just visable at a distance of about 20cm.

The third shot shows the bonnet from eye level at a normal viewing distance of about 75cm and is invisible.

This is what is possible, given Peters expertise and a couple of hours!

Knight in shining armour comes to the aid of Damsel in distress.

11:15am, the phone rings – “are you able to help, it’s a bit of an emergency”

Turns out Dads car has a bumper scuff that wasn’t there when he went off on holiday, and he lands in London at 2:30pm!

12 noon an Obsidian Black CL500 is on the drive with a scuff above the number plate and it’s blowing a gale.

Peter sets to with all the ChipsAway tools available and by 3:00pm he is off the drive and Dad will never know.

Result!

Toyota Yaris Bumper

Toyota Yaris Bumper Repair

Sometimes it is not a big repair that people need. This was a small bumper scuff that just spoiled the “newness” of the family car. Once a car starts to get damaged, other people tend to take less care when around it. As a result more damage happens and this family didn’t want that to happen so they called Peter, on 07830 36 46 86 for a free quote.

If you’ve had this sort of thing happen to your pride and joy, call Peter and see if he can help.

Testimonial from Reflex Design

We have used Peter at Chipsaway several times on our leased vehicles, we always find the service cost effective, speedy and reliable. I would and have recommended Peter to friends and family. We find one of advantages to Peter’s service for us is that he was able to do the repairs at our premises which meant we could continue our day as normal. Katie @ Reflex Design
